Lion Foundation

The Lion Foundation is a charitable trust that exists for the purpose of raising funds for the community. It was established by Lion Nathan in 1985.

The Foundation owns gaming machines that are situated in hotels, taverns and other licensed entertainment venues throughout New Zealand. We have approximately 2,700 gaming machines in about 175 venues from Invercargill to Kaitaia.

All profits are returned in the form of grants to community organisations for legislated Authorised Purposes.

Lion Foundation have sponsored this website and squash calendars which have been distributed to committees of all the clubs in Nelson, Marlborough and the West Coast.

New Zealand Community Trust

New Zealand Community Trust operates gaming machines in hotels and taverns throughout New Zealand, with the aim to raise funds for the local community.

The New Zealand Community Trust is a non-profit organisation, which was established in 1998. The trust distributes $30 million each year to amateur sports and community groups throughout New Zealand.

The New Zealand Community Trust fund SDO wages and running costs, which includes delivery of Microcourt, school squash programmes, coordinating junior interclub, tournaments, Sec Schools leagues, regionals, junior & senior coach training, club development, Senior Development, media promotions.

The Community Trust

The Community Trust was established in 1988 as a charitable trust, with the purpose of providing charitable, cultural, philanthropic and recreational benefits to the community.

The Trust services Canterbury (North of the Rakaia River), the Nelson and Marlborough regions and the Chatham Islands.

The Community Trust's primary goal is to "help people first" and this is reflected in the way donations are allocated. The Trust's priority is to channel its funds as effectively as it can, for the greatest possible benefit of the community and its people.

5+A Day

The objective of the 5+ A Day programme is to encourage all New Zealanders to eat and enjoy fresh fruit and vegetables. 5+ means 5 or more servings of fresh fruit and vegetables a day. A serving is about a handful and is relative to age and size.

The trust benefits the development of Sporting Youth of Nelson in a wide range of sporting codes, both summer and winter. This development is provided through coaching clinics and seminars.
