Squash for Schools

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE

This programme is designed for groups of Primary & Secondary School Students who are interested in playing the sport of Squash.

ALL ABILITIES ARE CATERED FOR:

The programme can be modified, depending on the student standards and the number of students in the group. Time frame can be shortened or extended if necessary.
Available all year round during school hours.
A coach will be supplied to teach the skills of this programme for each of the six lessons and will brief the teacher prior to the lessons.
A teacher and will be required to attend and participate in all lessons.
A Secondary Schools NCEA Squash programme and assessment is available on request. Several Secondary Schools already use this programme.

NO SQUASH SKILL NECESSARY:

Students will learn the fundamental squash strokes and rules, finishing with a fun tournament.
Students or schools with rackets should provide them if available, but rackets & balls will be supplied if required.

INTERMEDIATE SCHOOLS SQUASH TOURNAMENT

As a follow on to the squash programme run in many Intermediate Schools the SDO coordinates the Annual Intermediate Schools Squash tournament over the last 3-4 Fridays of Term 2. Schools can enter more than one Combined team of 3 girls and 3 boys to compete for the Intermediate Schools Squash Tournament Shield, which has been won by Waimea for the last 2 years.

TASMAN REGIONAL SECONDARY SCHOOLS SQUASH TOURNAMENT

Regional Secondary Schools team event run in conjunction with Sport Tasman and Nelson Bays squash. Open to schools from Nelson, Golden Bay, Marlborough, West Coast and Christchurch.
