| Grading Lists What is Grading? Squash Grading is a system by which every squash club member (full financial member) is given a grade according to their ability. This enables the pairing of players for in-house club matches, interclub and competitive tournaments. The whole basis of the computer grading system is to record player results, determine the points differential between the players at the time of the game, and calculate the points gained and lost by each player. The greater the points differential, the greater the points won and lost. Grading gives players the opportunity to advance through playing competitively. For more information about grading, ask your statistician in your club. See the searchable grading list for Wellington districts players on the Squash NZ website. GRADINGS - POINTS RANGE

How Do I become graded? First become a competitive member in your club. Then contact the clubs statistician, (ask someone in the club who they are) and ask to be included on the grading list. He or she will ask you a few questions and ask you to play against some other players from the club to get an indication of your ability. They will then make an assessment of your points and request Squash NZ to place you on the grading list at that level. Where and When are the Grading Lists Published? Official Squash NZ Grading Lists are published on the Squash NZ Website on 1st & 15th of every month and are all OFFICIAL grading lists. How Do I Look Up Other Graded Players? A substantial up-grade of the functionality of the Grading System section of the Squash NZ website is online providing an online searchable player database. Are grading lists up to date? When looking at player computer points shown on the grading list it must be remembered that the points shown may NOT include all of an individual player's results for the season to date (tournament and / or interclub) as some recent results may not have been received before the processing day of a particular grading list or may not have been received at all (check the outstanding tournament schedule). Likewise, the player points shown on the grading list are as at the date of publication and are subject to change immediately following that date as new results are added to the system. The Importance of Being Graded Accurately Every season, complaints are received in respect of players being allocated grades below that which they previously held, when returning after two or three years absence from competition. You and your club should be aware that where a player is allocated a grade below that which they have previously held, the player risks being disqualified from the event - at both district and national level, and in effect the club also risks having its TEAM disqualified from the event. |
