Coaching Resources - How To Get The Best Performance! There are several good resources available for junior and senior coaches to use. Nelson Bays Squash has published a Junior Coaching resource with 'hands on' practical ideas for coaches to employ when taking coaching numbers of children. Your club Junior Coordinator should have this manual in his/her juniors kit, but copies are available on request by emailing sdo@nelsonbayssquash.co.nz . Squash New Zealand and regional coach Nick Mita have published some tried and true skills and drills for more advanced players, for these please contact Greg at sdo@nelsonbayssquash.co.nz JUNIOR SKILLS PROGRAMME Squash NZ has launched a new Junior Skills Resource. The Junior Skills Programme is designed for junior players in clubs and schools. The seven level programme offers coaches, teachers and junior conveners a tool to encourage beginner juniors to up-skill themselves in a fun and rewarding way. The programme is available through Squash New Zealand. Each pack comes in a folder and is designed for five juniors. Each pack contains the following:
SQUASH ROUTINES Squash New Zealand now has available a booklet of various squash routines. The manual provides over 200 squash routines, which can be practised by any level of player. The resource is divided into the six common squash shots:
TEAMS EVENT COACHING GUIDE Teams Event Coaching Guide is a manual designed to help coaches in charge of teams of all levels. If you're involved in the finals of the National Graded Teams event then this manual is a must. The manual includes ten session plans, as well as four different training programmes. There are also helpful tips on the logistics of the preparation and tips on warming up and warming down.

Susan O'Connell is currently running our Junior Development programme with the support of junior coach Chris Collins. The programme currently hosts 16 players who are at the beginning of the squash performance pathway. For any enquiries regarding our JDS squad please contact Susan: red.susan@xtra.co.nz CLUB COACH DEVELOPMENT Goal: To provide expertise, knowledge, support and information for clubs to establish a club coaching programme for juniors, individuals and teams through workshops, courses and resources. HIGH PERFORMANCE PROGRAMMES JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT The Junior development squad is sponsored by Nelson Building Society and is available on the NBS DEV SQUADS page.
